What Services Do We Offer?
Starting July 1, 2024 we will only support events in the Academic Division.
The IMATS Videography Team currently offers three services to support events:
Please note, we are able to provide one service per event, for a maximum of four hours. For courses, we only support religious holiday recordings on a first come, first serve basis. If we cannot record, we will pass the request to AV to coordinate a Zoom recording with in classroom technology.
- Video Recording. An IMATS videographer will record your event with an advanced, high-definition camera and will deliver a polished video with Barnard-branded title and end cards. Learn more about our Video Recording service.
- Video Feed for Zoom. An IMATS videographer will swap the standard Zoom laptop webcam with an advanced, high-definition camera. Learn more about our Video Feed for Zoom service.
- Photography. An IMATS photographer will take high quality photographs during your event and deliver a batch of color-corrected digital photos. Learn more about our Photography service.
Important: Videography Request Guidelines
- After submitting your EMS request, please immediately fill out our IMATS Videography & Photography Services Request form. This form must be submitted at least 2 weeks before your event date.
- The duration of your event cannot exceed 4 hours.
- If your event is taking place in a Hy-Flex enabled room, your request will not be approved and a videographer will not be assigned. With the exception of religious holiday course recordings.
- Videography and/or photography services may only be requested by Barnard faculty and staff for Barnard faculty- or staff-led events. We do not provide videography/photography services for student groups or student events.
- Once we confirm a videographer who is available for your event, we will send you a confirmation email detailing the information on file for your event.
- Please carefully review all details as listed in the confirmation email, and be sure to submit any necessary corrections as soon as possible.
- Please submit any changes or event updates to videography@barnard.edu by replying all to your event confirmation email.
- IMATS will typically take 1-2 weeks to edit your video recording or photographs. Once the deliverable is complete, we will email it to the designated contact person.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can request IMATS videography and photography services?
This service is for Barnard-affiliated faculty and staff ONLY. IMATS does not provide event documentation services for student groups or individual students.
- When do I need to submit my IMATS videography service request?
You must submit our Request Form at least 2 weeks in advance, though the sooner the better as we cannot guarantee staffing for concurrent events. Please note: you must submit our form in addition to submitting your request on the Events Management System (EMS).
- What is the maximum duration that I can request videography services for a single event?
Our standard policy is 4 hours max for any given event, with requests being submitted at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Can I request more than one service for the same event?
No, we are only able to provide one service per event.
- Does submitting a service request guarantee my event will be staffed?
No. Though we try our best to fulfill every request, there will be times when simply can not. When this happens we will work with event organizers to find an alternative solution.
- Does IMATS offer lecture capture?
We only support course recordings for religious holidays and those requests will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. For course lectures, we recommend that faculty utilize Zoom recordings. Hy-flex technology is now installed in all campus instructional spaces. Faculty members may check out tips for recording on our Faculty Zoom Recordings page. Please also see our Hybrid Classroom Technology page for instructions on using classroom hy-flex equipment and scheduling training or other support.
- What is the difference between your Video Recording and Video Feed for Zoom services?
The Video Recording service is a simple static recording of your event, and we offer a polished, edited version of the video for your distribution. The Video Feed for Zoom service only provides a high-definition video feed throughout the duration of the Zoom event. IMATS isn’t responsible for recording the event, nor do we offer services for editing footage captured in the Zoom video feed.
- Do you support tech runs before an event?
We assess tech run requests on a case-by-case basis. Standard protocol is having the on-site event host arrive at least 30 minutes before the event start time to assess camera framing and audio checks. If you would like to hold a tech run in advance, please confirm the room availability on EMS prior to emailing videography@barnard.edu. We will assess staff and equipment availability from there.
